Arusha National Park

Extending over around 137km2, this is the closest park to the city of Arusha. The gate leads to forests of altitudes inhabited by many monkeys as well as several species of colourful birds. The steep cliffs of the Ngurdoto crater surround a caldera where herds of buffalo and warthog live. Momela lakes are home to thousands of pink flamingos and a rich variety of birds. In the meadows, one can observe giraffes, zebras, buffaloes and it is also possible to see leopards and hyenas. Mount Meru, which rises to 4566m (5th highest summit in Africa), dominates the park. It is a privileged destination for hiking.
